About 79 percent of the Bhutanese eligible voters have registered to vote during the one-day National Council election on December 31.
The final electoral roll for the NC election, released late yesterday evening, stated that there are 312,817 people registered. A press release from the commission stated that no inclusion, exclusion, and correction on the electoral roll would be entertained from November 30 till the close of poll day on December 31.
However, it stated that the electoral roll would be open for revision and updating from January 1, 2008. The final electoral roll is the latest list of all registered voters with their photographs.
Trashigang dzongkhag has the highest registered voters on the roll with 33,596 people. Trashigang has 45,915 eligible voters.
Gasa dzongkhag with a voter population of 2,083 has the least registered voters at 1,551.
There are 158,766 female voters and 154,051 male voters registered on the roll. Source: Kuenselonline
