A record 744 graduates, 158 technical and 586 general, have registered with the Royal Civil Service Commission (RCSC) to sit for the Civil service Examinations on November 14.

Out of the 586 general graduates 467 applied for postgraduate diploma in public administration (PGDPA), postgraduate diploma in financial management (PGDFM) and lecturer. Only 119 registered for postgraduate diploma in education (PGDE).

The commission will take in 35 graduates each for PGDPA and PGDFM, 54 for lecturer and about 90 in positions requiring technical graduates. Although there are 145 vacancies for teachers, the total registered number came short of 26 applicants.

“The graduates will be urged to join in teaching during the briefing on November 9. However, we would not compromise on the academic requirements, said the commission’s head of human resource management division, Kinley Yangzom.

Fifty percent of the over all weightage will be determined through written examinations, 30 percent by an individual’s degree aggregate, and 20 percent through interview, which will be held from November 19 to 23.

For the technical graduates the papers would be related to their subjects, and language and general knowledge. The number of graduates appearing for the RSCE increased by 184 this year. RCSC officials said that this was expected keeping in mind the large turn out for the orientation program last month.

The result of the examinations will be declared on December 12.
