Buddhist ceremony to bring rain

Villagers carry the Bum, Kanjur and Tenjyur scriptures across Kanglung gewog in Trashigang yesterday.
The ceremony was conducted to bring rainfall as the long spell of dry weather had scorched farmlands across the dzongkhag.

Kanglung gup Ugen Dorji said that lack of rain has stopped farmers from starting work in paddy fields and was also wilting crops that had already been cultivated.

A representative from every household in Kanglung participated in the ceremony that involved carrying the scriptures for about 20 kilometres. Source: Kuenselonline
