Clean Green Bhutan

Clean Green Bhutan Coinciding with the National Day the Clean Bhutan Committee launched the clean Bhutan campaign at the clock tower square yesterday evening.

The campaign was launched by the Prime Minister Lyonpo kinzang Dorji. Launching the campaign, the Prime Minister Lyonpo Kinzang Dorji said we should all be responsible for our city as we are the ones who are responsible for littering.

He said Thimphu is facing problems of waste management which is increasing day by day. He said the problem is also present in other dzongkhags and gewogs.

“Clean Bhutan Campaign is a concerted effort from the public, private sector and civil society towards finding a lasting solution to the problem of solid waste disposal,” said Prime Minister.

This is the 2nd phase of the initiative. As part of the first initiative, Sherubtse College graduates carried out a cleanup campaign along the highways in some of the dzongkhags.

On December 22, a similar cleaning campaign will be carried out in the capital. The evening ended with a musical concert on cleanliness.
