To ensure wider participation in the democratization process

To ensure wider participation in the democratization process, the election bill will soon be made available in Braille.

The election bill is currently being translated and published in Braille in both Dzongkha and English.

The Election Commission is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that everybody participates in the democratization process.

They are now in the process of translating the election bill in Braille. 14 teachers are involved in the translation work which is being carried out at the National Institute of Disabled in Khaling, Trashigang.

Our reporter Tenzin Namgyel says the translation work which began in July this year is expected to complete by November.

According to the institute’s principal, the printing work is being delayed by frequent breakdown of the printing machine due to overuse and power blackouts.

They have also translated 120 numbers of the voter’s guide. He said they are now confident that they would be able to translate and publish the draft Constitution also in Braille.

Around 40 students have graduated from the National Institute of Disabled since it was established in 1973. Source: BBS
