The Research and External Relation Division of Royal University of Bhutan (RUB) released its first Journal of Research & Development.

The book “Towards Knowledge and Empowerment� was released by the Education Minister Lyonpo Thinley Gyamtsho yesterday morning.

The research journal contains articles on various discipline contributed by the members of RUB. The journal will be published annually in both Dzongkha and English.

The public can also contribute in the next issue which is going to be in Dzongkha.

Talking to media after the release, Phintsho Choden, Director of the Research and External Relation said that this is an attempt by the university to facilitate a forum for exchange of knowledge, information and expertise.

“Although researches are conducted by individual agencies in Bhutan, there is no exchange of findings or further research on those findings,” she said.

To promote the research culture, the research and external relation of the RUB is working to establish a Research Centre in Sherubtse College and Institute of language and Culture Studies in 2008.
