The Trongsa Penlop Award has been conferred

The 2nd Trongsa Penlop award has been conferred on Tenzin, a park guard from the Jigme Dorji National Park and the 2nd Trongsa Penlop conservation fellowship has been awarded to Tandin Wangmo, a high school graduate from Yangchenphug Higher Secondary School.

They received the awards from Her Royal Highness Ashi Chimi Yangzom Wangchuck in Thimphu yesterday.

Tenzin has been in charge of the Lunana guard post described by his colleagues as the loneliest and the most challenging field post in the Bhutanese civil service. A news release from the Bhutan Trust Fund for environmental conservation says throughout his career Tenzin has demonstrated outstanding commitment to his work. Tenzin received a certificate and a soelra of Nu. 100,000.

Tandin Wangmo the recipient of the Trongsa Penlop Conservation Fellowship distinguished herself competitively from 20 candidates to win the scholarship. The participants were assessed based on performance in academics, extra curricular activities, and a written three and half hour exam. Tandin will receive a financial grant to study environment science at the Trend University in Canada.

The Trongsa Penlop conservation awards were instituted in 2004 by the Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation to recognize and honor professional excellence and individual contributions to environment conservation, and train qualified individuals to promote social welfare through environmental conservation in Bhutan.
