Thimphu Dzongkhag now has a candidate for the National Council election. Sangay Zam, former Principal of the Gelephu Higher Secondary School is the first candidate to declare her intention to contest the National Council election from Thimphu Dzongkhag.

With the National Council election drawing nearer by the day, there are still several dzongkhags without a single candidate.

Sangay Zam is the latest candidate to declare the intention to contest the National Council election. She will be contesting the election from thim throm. 43 year old Sangay Zam has served as an educationist for two decades.

She resigned as the principal of the Gelephu higher secondary school earlier this year. She said she is joining the election to give people more choice.

She has a master’s degree in education from the New Brunswick University in Canada.
