November 11 is also observed as Children’s day. Speaking on the significance of the day, the Education Minister said the recognition of children’s special position in Bhutan is reflected in the declaration of the Children’s Day.
Lyonpo Thakur Singh Powdyel said the day coincides with a significant event and an auspicious birthday of the King of Destiny, the 4th Druk Gyalpo. The message calls upon Bhutanese to reflect on how we can build a society in which children, women and people feel secure and happy.
The Education Minister said that this is the day for every child studying or grazing in any of the 205 geogs across the 20 Dzongkhags.
He said it is a very special day in the history of our country, first because it is the birth anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo Jigme Singye Wangchuck. He added the King of destiny was born on this day to Bhutan and the Bhutanese and it is very befitting that this day should be also observed as children’s day to coincide with the birthday of His Majesty, our beloved king, said the Education Minister.
Lyonpo Thakur S. Powdyel also said that it is the effort of the government and that of the Ministry of education to ensure that every single child, every girl and boy and all the children of Bhutan to allow them to grow and develop in an environment that will give them opportunity to give the best they have in themselves, to give the best to their family, to the society and to the country.
Lyonpo added that the government is putting in efforts to ensure that children are able to explore the potentials, the many gifts and talents they possess so that children become the pride of their family, teachers, society, the King and the nation.
In his message, the Education Minister reminded that every child is special for the country and said that they are the future of the nation. Lyonpo added that they represent the best of the society, the ideals, hopes, dreams and the future.
