
For spectators who watch both football and archery, yesterday’s final of the coronation shield archery tournament at Changlimithang archery range reminded of the Turkey-Czechoslovakia match during the EURO 2008 quarterfinals.
Like the Turks who came behind from two goals to beat the Czechs, team Dr Tobgay came back strong after losing the first game to Talo-Nobgang, 8-25 to lift the coronation shield. They won the next two consecutives games, both at 25-11. Who says 11 is a lucky number?
The winners were also awarded Nu 3,000 individual cash prize. Man of the match Tshering Gyeltshen of Dr Tobgay hit 21 karays (hits) in 30 rounds. Meanwhile, Ugyen Thinley from Cholay Namgay team from Punakha bagged Nu 10,000 for the best archer of the tournament.
