The Centre for Bhutan Studies (CBS) is organizing a two day meeting on integrating Gross National Happiness (GNH) in public policy and programmes.

Government Secretaries and other senior officials are meeting at the CBS to discuss integrating GNH in public policy and programmes.

The Director of Centre for Bhutan studies Dasho Karma Ura said public policy as an instrument of implementing GNH is new in the world. He said the meeting was organized to see how GNH can be linked to public policy and programmes.

Dasho Karma Ura said “Public policy provides general environment within which individual can pursue something. If public policy is divergent from happiness then the individual strivings would also have limited attainment. Therefore he said the idea of linking public policy to GNH is a very important exercise.”

Dasho Karma Ura said the meeting was targeted at Secretaries from the various government ministries as they occupy the top position in the bureaucracy. He said if they can internalize GNH and know more about it, this will have an effect on public policy.
