His Majesty the King hosted lunch for over 600 wage workers and elementary service personnel

His Majesty the King hosted a tokha for over 600 wage workers and elementary service personnel at the Garden palace yesterday.

They include carpenters, masons, painters, drivers, sweepers and administrative officers who were involved in the Coronation celebration in Punakha and Thimphu.

His majesty the King and Their Royal Highnesses Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck and Prince Jigme Dorji Wangchuck also joined them in a game of archery. Simultaneously a khuru match was also organized.

Their Royal Highnesses the princesses Ashi Chimi Yangzom Wangchuck, Ashi Sonam Dechan Wangchuck and Ashi Kesang Choden Wangchuck also attended the function.

Dancers from the Royal Academy of Performing Arts entertained the gathering.

Some people BBS spoke to said it was a rare opportunity and they will cherish the moment for the rest of their lives.

On the sidelines of the tokha, over 100 physically challenged students, officials and elderly people came to offer their thridhar to His Majesty the King.

Most of them were from the Draktsho Vocational Training Centre for the Disabled and the special education unit at Changangkha Lower Secondary School and Drugyel Lower Secondary School.

It was a rare opportunity for the students and their joy and happiness was reflected in the broad smiles on their face as they offered Thridhar to His Majesty the King in person. Source: BBS
