Royal University of Bhutan to introduce Mass Communication in Sherubtse College

The vice chancellor of the Royal University of Bhutan (RUB) Dasho Pema Thinley said the university is planning to introduce Mass Communication including journalism at Sherubtse College in Kanglung, Trashigang.

He was speaking at a meeting in Paro which was convened to brainstorm the role of BBS and the media in parliamentary democracy. He said graduates with Mass Communication knowledge are required not only for the growing Bhutanese media but also for the private sector and government agencies.

He said the RUB is at the moment studying the possibility of introducing the course including the course module. Source: BBS

Having worked in Bhutan for six years, from 1984 -87 at what was then the Royal Technical Institute at Kharbandi and then from 1991 – 94 as Project Manager overseeing the new hospital constructed at Yebilaptsa in Shemgang District, I have over the past two years been writing a book about my experiences in Bhutan and in particular my involvement in its development programme. The last chapter attempts to chart some of the principal milestones in Bhutan’s development, including that of its educational establishments.
I would like a brief resume of the development of Sherubtse please, from its begining, up to the present time. If you are able to help me in this, it would be much appreciated.
I enjoyed my time working in your beautiful country immensely, and I only hope that the book will do it justice.
My best wishes to you for the forthcoming elections.

Nice to know about Royal University of Bhutan to introduce Mass Communication in Sherubtse College.
As an experienced professional in the field of ‘sound for film and video’ would like to get associated with the department of Mass Communication in Sherubtse College, in whatever way it is useful.
