Tens of thousands had gathered to offer Thridhar to His Majesty the King

Following the coronation ceremony on November 6, His Majesty the King was escorted to the Tendrel Thang where tens of thousands had gathered to offer Thridhar. People from all walks of life from across the country had gathered at the tendrel thang from early morning to offer their Thridhar to His Majesty the King.

To ensure that everybody who had gathered there will get the opportunity to offer Thridhar, His Majesty the King walked from one endless line of people to the next, talking to them, and shaking hands.

His Majesty presented a commemorative coin to each and every person who had come to offer Thridhar and see their king in person.

A 73-year-old man from Paro has wrapped his commemorative coin in a silk scarf and says that this will remain on the altar of his home for generations to come.

A large number of people had traveled for days from as far as Lhuentse and Trashigang to be here in the capital for the celebrations. The people on their part expressed their love and affection for their King by offering not only Thridhar but their prayers and good wishes for his majesty the king, his majesty the fourth Druk Gyalpo and the wellbeing of the nation.

A young student offered His Majesty a hand written letter and a portrait of His Majesty sketched by her own hand which His Majesty opened and read. Walking among his people, His Majesty stopped every now and then to pick up a child here and there and hold them in his arms or take pictures with them, hold the hands of elderly people and speak to them.

His majesty also greeted foreign visitors and the international media, thanking them for their good wishes and their prayers and for coming to the coronation celebrations.
