The Changlingmithang stadium which is being rebuilt will be ready by May

changlimithang.gif The Changlingmithang stadium which is being rebuilt for the coronation and the centenary celebrations will be ready by May end.

About 19 contractors are involved in the construction of the Changlingmithang stadium.

The Director of the Department of Urban Development and Engineering Section (DUDES) Rinchen Dorji says the stadium is nearing completion. Only the finishing touch remains to be completed. The construction will cost about Nu. 220 million.

The stadium has two main gates and a separate building for monks who will perform the ceremony overlooking the whole stadium. There is a pavilion for the VVIP, an area where the performers will get ready and provision for the media.

changlimithang-park.gif Across the road, the Riverside Park has also been completed. The park spreads across an area measuring more than five acres of land.

The construction of the park cost about Nu. 22 million and took about a year to complete.
