The Citizen’s Initiative for Coronation and Centenary Celebrations (CICCC) and Save the Children presented a booklet to the Prime Minister in the capital yesterday.
The booklet contains signatures of over 23,000 people endorsing the theme “Say No to Drugs and Yes to Life.” The signatures were signed by those who genuinely believed and supported the pledge.
The booklet was presented to the Prime Minister by the students of Jigme Namgyal Lower Secondary School on behalf of the youth. The Prime Minister said the booklet is a worthy endeavor on the part of the CICCC and save the children in addressing substance abuse. The Prime Minister said drug abuse is a major concern.
CICCC members said the awareness programme on “Say No to Drugs and Yes to Life” began on November 6 and carried on till November 12. The awareness programme was carried throughout the country.
In the capital, the CICCC organized concerts and shows to spread the message to the youth. In other dzongkhags the youth were sensitized through emails, facsimile, telecommunications and letters.
