The Prime Minister Lyonchhen Jigmi Y. Thinley left for New York in the US yesterday. Lyonchhen will be attending the UN General Assembly.
At the Paro International airport the Prime Minister Lyonchhen Jigmi Y. Thinley and his team were seen off by cabinet ministers, senior government officials, armed force personnel, the Indian ambassador to Bhutan Sudhir Vyas and the UN Resident Representative Nicholas Rossellini.
Lyonchhen Jigmi Y. Thinley is accompanied by the Cabinet Secretary Dasho Sherub Tenzin and other senior officials.
The Foreign Minister Lyonpo Ugyen Tshering and other delegates will leave on Thursday.
The National Assembly member from Gangzur-Minjay constituency in Lhuentse Karma Rangdol, who is the chairperson of the Foreign Relations Committee will also join the delegation.
On Thursday, September 18, Lyonchhen Jigmi Y Thinley will open an exhibition on Dragon’s Gift, Sacred Arts of Bhutan at the Rubin Museum of Arts in New York.
The Prime Minister is also scheduled to speak on Gross National Happiness at an interactive talk show with a senior New York journalist.
Lyonchhen Jigmi Y. Thinley will address the UN General Assembly on September 26.
The Prime Minister is also expected to hold several bilateral meetings at the sideline of the UN meeting. Source: BBS
