For the first time in more than 15 years, Trashiyangtse and parts of Trashigang received snowfall yesterday.

In Trashiyangtse, the day was declared holiday on the occasion of the first snowfall of the year. Residents of the two dzongkhags said they are experiencing snowfall after about 15 years.

Our reporter Dorji Dema says the snowfall briefly disrupted the power supply in Kanglung.

Movement of all passenger buses from Trashigang and Trashiyangtse to Thimphu has been stopped.

In Monggar as our correspondent Karma Tenzin reports the snow reached till Kadam Goenpa, about one kilometer from the town. Residents said it is the first snowfall in about three decades. Source: BBS
