60th Republic Day celebrated in Bhutan by Indian Community

January 26: As India celebrated its 60th Republic Day, the Indian Community in Bhutan gathered at the Indian Embassy today.

The celebrations at the Indian Embassy premises began with the hoisting of the Indian tri-colour and the singing of the national anthem.

The Indian Ambassador to Bhutan Sudhir Vyas then read out the Indian President’s address on the occasion.

Mr. Sudhir Vyas also expressed his appreciation for Bhutan’s peaceful transition to democracy under the guidance of Their Majesties the Kings. He said the extraordinary events in Bhutan’s history saw important exchanges at the highest levels with the visit of the President of India as the most hounoured guest during the coronation celebration.

He added the visit of Indian Prime Minister to Bhutan and the visit of Bhutan’s Prime Minster to India last year has strengthened the depth of the relations between Bhutan and India.

Following this, the Galpoi Zimpoen offered Tashi Khadar to the Ambassador and exchanged greetings. The Galpoi Zimpon was accompanied by the Home Secretary and other Bhutanese officials. Source: BBS
