Bhutan Law enforcers briefed on the legal provisions and investigation procedures With the adoption of the constitution and the Police Act 2009, police officers are being briefed on the legal provisions and investigation procedures.

The programme spearheaded by the Chief of Police will be carried out across the country. It started off from Gelephu today.

Law enforcers are being briefed on the legal provisions and investigation procedures in line with the adoption of the constitution and the police Act 2009.

The programme started from Gelephu today. Police officers from Trongsa, Bumthang, Tsirang, Dagana, Sarpang, Zhemgang and Gelephu attended the talk at the Jimiling Training Centre.

The Chief of Police Colonel Kipchu Namgyal said with the adoption of the constitution and the Police Act 2009, the officers’ knowledge needs to be updated inline with the changes.

Officers were also sensitized on the regional and international human rights instruments and rights of the citizen as enshrined in the constitution.

The officers were also briefed on the procedures of handling women and children in conflict with law, particularly victims of rape.

The programme will be conducted across the country for all police officers including the trainee officers.

The programme is funded by the National Commission for Women and Children.
