Starting today, cost of petrol will drop from Nu 38.53 to Nu 38.25 per litre and diesel to Nu 30.76 from Nu 30.97.
The prices were revised following a recent review of the pricing structure of petroleum products in the country by the economic affairs ministry.
LPG, however, will increase by Nu 0.04 and cost Nu 387.28 instead of Nu 387.24.
This is third time in the span of a year that rates of petrol and diesel have been lowered.
Department of trade’s officiating director, Dophu Tshering said that, although the revision is minor, it would not only benefit general customers but also ensure that dealers get favourable profit. “To those involved in transport business, it will be more beneficial,†he said.
Records with MoEA show that, in 2008, Bhutan imported petroleum products worth Nu 2771.63m of which 57,245 kilolitres were diesel and 17,393 kilolitres petrol.
