I Love Bhutan

Lee Peng Chow... I love Bhutan It was with considerable trepidation that I embarked on my 12-day trip to Bhutan in October 2005. A Kingdom I knew very little about apart from what I have learnt from watching the Discovery Channel and talking to friends who had visited the place. How would I cope with the high altitude and the thin air?

All my anxiety evaporated from the moment I was picked up at Paro Airport by Namgay (Bhutan Majestic Travel). He possesses an in depth knowledge of his country’s history, culture and religion which was on full display when we visited the National Museum, Tigress’s Nest and other cultural sites. What’s more? He showed great humour throughout.

I became even more impressed when we started on our trek. Namgay was protective and patience on the trek as I struggled with altitude sickness and the cold. He and his team kept me warm, well fed and entertained on those cold nights in the Himalayas. Trading folklore and jokes over the campfire was an amazing experience.

Under Namgay’s guidance, I have come to know and love this beautiful Kingdom and its warm and hospitable people. I could not have asked for a better guide. It was the best trip I have ever taken anywhere in the world and I look forward to visiting this amazing land again to do some more trekking and kayaking.

I have no hesitation in recommending Namgay and Bhutan Majestic Travel to anyone who wishes to visit Bhutan. Go for it that’s what I would say! Take that trip of a lifetime.
